Babcock Ranch is the first community of its kind. The Healthy Life Center in the community offers members a place to focus on their health.

“On the second floor of our Babcock Ranch location you’ll find the majority of our cardio equipment, strength machines, as well as our physical therapy treatment area,” explained Mathieu Knapp, Healthy Life Center supervisor.

At first glance, it may look like any other gym, but exercise specialists say the new Healthy Life Center at Babcock Ranch offers the latest and greatest equipment and technology.  “They are all fully connected so you can watch Netflix, watch TV, listen to the radio, you can Skype a family member across the country, you can race someone next to you or on the same machine as you in Europe,” said Knapp.

The machines are also equipped to work with Florida Power and Light, so the harder you exercise, the more energy you produce, that’s put right back into the grid. “As you peddle, it’s going to tell you how much watts of energy you’re producing back into the grid, how much CO² you’re avoiding,” said Knapp.

The machines are also designed to engage or distract you from your workout. “I can actually have it show me how to do the exercise.  It’s almost like a little game; I’m trying to keep the green dot inside the white trail. It’s very visual which is good for a lot of people,” he said.

All machines can also sync to your phone telling you how to use the machine correctly for your workout. ”In the group exercise room, we do a cycle class. We just brought on yoga and meditation. We also do total body workout classes. We’re going to be bringing on Zumba, aqua aerobics, we’re trying to bring it all,” said Knapp.

But if you miss a class, no problem. Simply select the class you want to take, and the screen rolls down, and the music starts.  “It keeps you connected. It keeps you focused. It keeps you on track, said Knapp.
