Peter Rummell

Peter began his real estate career with the Sea Pines Company, developers of Hilton Head Island, SC, and Amelia Island, FL. He served as General Manager of Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL for the Arvida Corporation prior to joining the Rockefeller Center Management Corporation in New York as Vice Chairman. In 1985, Peter became President of Disney Development Company. During his 12-year tenure, Disney produced over 20,000 hotel rooms and created the town of Celebration, FL. Peter became Chairman of Walt Disney Imagineering when the entity merged with Disney Development Company, remaining in that position until becoming Chairman and CEO of The St. Joe Company in 1997, where he led the transition from a regional manufacturing conglomerate focused on papermaking to a dynamic real estate company and placemaker. From 2008-9, he served as CEO of Nicklaus Companies, founded by golf legend Jack Nicklaus.

Peter is on the board of Avalon Bay Communities and The Haskell Company, and is currently active in and is past Chairman of the Florida Council of 100. He is also past Chairman and on the board of The Alliance for World Class Education and member of the advisory board of Teach for America (Jacksonville Chapter). Peter is the immediate past Chairman of the Urban Land Institute and past Chairman of the Urban Land Institute Foundation. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Jacksonville Civic Council and serves on the board of the Foundation for Florida’s Future. Rummell is currently on the board of the Florida Chamber of Commerce.

Peter received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
